Emergency Medicine  Healthcare Summer Volunteer Program at Bellevue Hospital

Overview:

Project Healthcare at Bellevue is a summer volunteer program for students interested in emergency medicine. Participants rotate through Bellevue's emergency department, including adult, pediatric, and fast track areas. They are paired with a resident mentor for professional guidance. They engage with the community by organizing health fairs, presenting projects to faculty and staff, and volunteering for programs like Children of Bellevue's Reach Out and Read. Weekly meetings and lectures, modeled on medical school curriculum, bridge the gap between classroom learning and emergency medicine practice. Speakers include NYU Langone and Bellevue faculty, staff, authors, administrators, residents, and medical students. Participants also attend a social medicine course taught by an attending physician.
